Steinem is wrong - Feminists LOVE Palin!

In her Wrong Woman, Wrong Message article, Gloria Steinem curiously and sadly continues the sexist attack on Sarah Palin, calling her unqualified, and labeling her selection as an attempt to trick women into supporting the Republican ticket.

Steinem writes:
"Here's the good news: Women have become so politically powerful that even the anti-feminist right wing -- the folks with a headlock on the Republican Party -- are trying to appease the gender gap with a first-ever female vice president. We ...<< MORE >>

Sigh... Still no tingles...

I am shocked at how many emails that I have received assuming, demanding that this blog, and other blogs like it shut down now that Obama has been coronated as the Democratic nominee.  Hardly the plan.  I am only further repulsed by the display of absurdity, and the sadness of those smart enough to know better as they "tow the line" and support a party who did not support them.  Hillary gave her speech for one reason only - she had no choice.  The words that she and Joe Biden spoke during the primary - about Obama and his only qualification for the highest position in the land being a speech that he gave in 2004 - are no less true today than they were then.   Just like so many Democrats in congress had to vote for a war that they knew was wrong, the Super Delegates voted for a candidate that they knew deep in their hearts would lose in 2008.

Plotting something doesn't make it so... Plotting to insert an unqualified candidate despite popular vote, despite any display of the experience required for the job, will not make it so. Obama will lose in November as surely as I write this.

Hillary, and her supporters, will never forget the sexist and corrupt behavior of this Democratic leadership.  They (Dean, Pelosi and the rest) must all be thrown to the curb when they lose in November, and the party must be returned back to the people of the party, and wrested away from its leadership and its newly found ideology.

And further, with the choice of Sarah Palin, Democrats have a second chance to fight the sexism employed against their candidate. It is clear that the Democratic leadership has no plan to stop using sexism as a tactic, given how effective it was in the Primary against Hillary.

What do Howard Dean, Eminem, Pfleger and Navin Johnson have in Common?

Question:    What do Howard Dean, Eminem, Pfleger and Navin Johnson have in Common?

Answer:        C'mon, think hard. (hint: Only one of them was actually born a "poor black child")

Guys, enough already!  Being strong civil rights proponents, we're all excited that black is fashionable right now, but this is ridiculous!

When Misapplied, Affirmative Action is as bad as Nepotism. [Or, Obama is the new George W. Bush]

Let's face it - neither Barack Obama nor G.W.Bush (as opposed to GHW Bush) would qualify for the position of US Presidency, were it not for the favoritism that each received disproportionate to their accomplishments. In GW's case, he comes from the Blue Blood of Prescott Bush lineage, and is son of the 42st US President. In Obama's case, the issue appears to be Affirmative-Action-Gone-Bad that explains his ascent.

In its proper form, Affirmative Action is a welcome and powerful social and legal initiative, defined this way: “Affirmative action” means positive steps taken to increase the representation of women and minorities in areas of employment, education, and business from which they have been historically excluded."

Sounds great, right? But wait...

"When those steps involve preferential selection—selection on the basis of race, gender, or ethnicity - affirmative action generates intense controversy."

Unfortunately, in Obama's case, the clause related to preferential selection applies. Geraldine Ferraro was struck down hard by the media for acknowledging the preferential selection in play in his direction. A white male candidate with Obama's identical resume would not have survived as a candidate in this election. For a white woman, it is not even a remote possibility. Ferraro broke the cone of silence around the topic, and opened the door for others to acknowledge the issue. "Obama and his media suck-ups represent the corruption of racial politics", writes James Lewis in American Thinker.

Though Obama and Bush share some differences on policy (allowing eavesdropping on Americans is a horrible policy that they, unfortunately, have in common), the psychological weight that they both carry for being an imposter - a person unworthy of the advanced positions that they have found themselves in - has yielded striking personality similarities between the two:

Both struggled with Cocaine, Alcohol in their youth
Both prefer to go with their "gut instincts" over careful analysis and critical thinking
Both dismiss Experience over Judgment as a value.
Both have record-breakingly thin resumes as compared to their ambitions
Both have difficulty in admitting that they are wrong
Both are often described as Arrogant
Both have an excessive, narcissistic devotion to Exercising and Vacation
Both are very ADD-ish and gaffe-prone when not reading a prepared speech

In November, Americans must seek to raise the bar that Bush lowered due to nepotism regarding actual qualification for US Presidency. At a time when the next US President needs to repair the devastation caused by having a similarly-unqualified candidate in the highest office, wouldn't the logical public response be to select an overly-qualified candidate, rather than one with Obama's lack of accomplishment? US Inflation is at its highest level in 17 years. US is in the middle of two wars, and exiting properly requires skill, finesse and some military skill and instincts.

And further, isn't the public ready for some relief from the lethal combination of inexperience and arrogance that characterized the Bush presidency?

Part II: Power of Delusion - 10 Myths that SuperDelegates must Embrace to Continue Supporting Obama

After we recall from Part 1 of  Myths, in 1968, the Democratic Party created the SuperDelegate system due to concerns that the party’s most ideological supporters were prone to choosing a candidate who the ordinary Democrats were not motivated to cast their vote for. "  The current DNC has pushed through an unqualified candidate, boosted by the leadership of DNC Convention CEO Reverend Leah Daughtryand Donna Brazile, with agendas that center around the Liberation Theology that they share with Reverend Wright.  Other misplaced ideological supporters include Nancy Pelosi, who underhandedly bought off SuperDelegates, requesting that they vote against their consituency, to assure that the lesser qualified candidate, Obama, prevailed:

JOHN ALDER              NJ        $2500 from PELOSI     ALDER  endorses OBAMA
JASON ALTMIRE          PA        $10k FROM PELOSI     ALTMIRE endorses OBAMA
ANDRE CARSON          IN         $10k FROM PELOSI     CARSON endorses OBAMA
JOE DONNELLY           IN         $10k FROM PELOSI     DONNNELLY endorses OBAMA
GABRIELLE  GIFFORDS AZ      $10k FROM PELOSI     GIFFORDS endorses OBAMA
BARON HILL               IN         $10k FROM PELOSI     HILL endorses OBAMA
RON KLEIN                 FL         $10k FROM PELOSI     KLEIN endorses OBAMA
NICK LAMPSON           TX        $7500 FROM PELOSI   LAMPSON endorses OBAMA
TIM MAHONEY             FL         $10k FROM PELOSI     MAHONEY endorses OBAMA
JERRY MCNERNEY        CA        $10 FROM PELOSI       MCNERNEY endorses OBAMA
HARRY MITCHELL        AZ        $10k FROM PELOSI     MITCHELL endorses OBAMA
PATRICK MURPHY       PA        10k FROM PELOSI       MURPHY endorses OBAMA
JOE SESTAK                PA        $10k FROM PELOSI     SESTAK endorses OBAMA
CAROL SHEA PORTER             NH       $10k FROM PELOSI    SHEA PORTER endorses OBAMA
ZACHARY SPACE         OH       $10k FROM PELOSI     SPACE endorses OBAMA
NIKI TSONGAS            MA      $10k FROM PELOSI     TSONGAS endorses OBAMA

Never has there been more a need for the checks-and-balances that the SuperDelegate system was designed to protect the average Democratic voter public against.

Continuing our count...

Myth #6: History does not predict the future. History doesn't repeat itself.

Remember in 2004 when a landslide was predicted for Kerry?

Remember when Dukakis lead in by 55% to 38% at about this time in the race that he ultimately lost?

Voting Trends in Virginia are not likely to change, and Obama will not "redraw the map", despite his claims, based on history. Virginia has voted Republican since 1964.  Yet the Obama camp claims to be the "only candidate" to be able to do so. (NB: McCain now leads in Virginia, according to RealClearPolitics).

Myth #7: Americans don't take the role of Commander in Chief very seriously. America doesn't proudly define itself in terms of Military Prowess. Americans will pick an elite effette with dubious loyalties over a war hero.

Myth #8: Americans do not feel that the Primary process was unfairly biased toward Obama, and therefore they won't actively work to right the wrong.

Caucus Fraud stories continue to surface.  DNC fraud and mismanagement are rampant, and voters are not overlooking it for the sake of "party unity".

Per http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com/2008/08/20/caucus-fraud-proof/

"The delegates know, all too well, that Barack Obama edged out Hillary Clinton in the pledged delegate count largely due to his victories in caucus states.  Obama won 13 out of 14 caucuses, but only 18 out of 39 primaries. 42% of Obama’s wins were caucus states, 95% of Clinton’s wins were primary states.

The Delegates also know that Hillary Clinton was the popular-vote winner. Obama supporters take issue with that conclusion, complaining that there is no way to count the popular vote turn-out in caucus states."

Myth #9: The 18 million Clinton Supporters will "get over it", and if they don't, there are too few of them to matter.

Wrong. Over 300 Anti-Obama sites and counting...

Myth #10: Pretending to be President Will Make It So...

As a Super Delegate,  you would have to believe not one but ALL of these dubious factors to cast your vote for him. Remember, as SuperDelegates, your resposibilities are to head off a train wreck in November. It's not too late to take action in Denver.

Hillary. August. Denver.

Part I: Power of Delusion - 10 Myths that SuperDelegatates must first embrace to support Obama in Denver

Here is a brief reminder of the origin and role of SuperDelegates , per wikipedia:
"After the 1968 Democratic National Convention, the Democratic Party made changes in its delegate selection process, based on the work of the McGovern-Fraser Commission. The purpose of the changes was to make the composition of the convention less subject to control by party leaders  and more responsive to the votes cast during the campaign for the nomination."  (As a reminder, Hillary garnered more votes than Obama in the Primary:

POPULAR VOTE (all primaries and caucuses)
Hillary Clinton: 17,785,009
Barack Obama: 17,479,990  )

The Secret behind Barack Obama's Presumptuousness is... The Secret!!

Many of us have been left scratching our heads in confusion and disbelief, as we try to figure out the impetus for Obama's unfounded arrogance and presumptuousness. What would make a completely unqualified, junior Senator and former Community Organizer attempt a run for Presidency of the United States during a period of severe economic crisis and amidst complex military conflict? Why would he run an inevitibility campaign, and start playing the role of President, as Marcus Welby Jr played the role of a Doctor on tv?

What would make such a person go from making this statement, where he acknowledges his ...<< MORE >>

Two words - Be Scared!

In his shameless race-baiting efforts, Obama warned the crowd in Jacksonville in June against tactics in use by his opponents,  saying "They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?"

If you are like me, you are not scared of Obama for any of the suggested reasons grounded in racism.  Most of us have more intelligence than what this statement suggests, and we are offended at the insult. Rather, we are freakin' scared for a slew of other huge and legitimate ...<< MORE >>

Obama: I *am* the gaffe for whom you have been waiting...

Many of us are trying hard to figure out the unbridled arrogance and sense of self-importance that characterizes the Barack Obama and his campaign, including the arrogance reflected in these statements from Obama recently:

“This is the moment, as Nancy noted, that the world is waiting for.”

I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.

Yet, meanwhile, he and his campaign live by the polls daily, and whenever they feel that his sliver lead is in danger, they react spasmodically. The most recent example of this happened last night where he reversed his clear and vocal opposition ...<< MORE >>

Read all about it! All of Obama's Non-supporters are Racist!

Whoops, he did it again:   the Obama campaign is dusting off its accusations of Racism, and leveling them toward anyone who attempts to challenge him.   In an article by Jake Tapper quotes Obama during stops in Rolla, Springfield and Union Missouri, where Obama accuses McCain of generating fear about his having a “funny name” and that no other presidents “look like me.”

It's exasperating. It's exhausting and tiring.  We watched him do this to Hillary and it is inexcusable and disgusting.

We are left with only two ways to interpret this:

1. Obama is so incredibly arrogant that he can't imagine a thing wrong with him or his policies, and so any objection to him MUST be irrational.  Note that he has no experience, no energy plan, has abruptly reversed himself on key issues such as FISA, Gun Control, Abortion, etc, and claims that you should inflate your tires rather than to support drilling off the coast of states that support it,

or

2. Desperation. This is his brush-back tactic to get people back on their heels to stop them dead in their tracks, kind of like faking a heart attack in the middle of an argument that you are losing.

Honestly, I can't tell which.  His track record of arrogance, lending credence to #1, is boundless and well documented.  However, in support of #2, he has dropped 9 points in only several days according to Gallup, and I have had no less than half-dozen emails from Obama, Michelle, David Plouffe and the DNC begging and begging for donations before midnight tonight to meet their fundraising goals. It's clear that they are falling well short of the $100 million that Obama promised the DNC, to buy their support.   His is clearly a campaign in trouble right now, so desperation is quite likely.

No, Obama, your name doesn't scare me and others who oppose you. Many of us are more well-traveled than you are, and pride ourselves in creating an open and diverse world where rewards are based on fairness and personal merit.  On those grounds, you do not merit the US Presidency.   The fact that you don't look like the other Presidents on American Currency doesn't lessen you in our minds.  Rather, for most of us, the goal of having somebody who doesn't look like other presidents on American currency is what caused record voters to select Hillary over you in the primary.

Hillary would be easily ahead by double digits at this point in the race.  You, sadly, will continue to drop before our eyes.

Rather than act like a victim of race, Obama should accept himself as the beneficiary of race, as no white male or female of any color, for that matter, would be the nominee, given his lack of experience, poisonous associations, embarrassing gaffes and history of lies corruption.

Are we racist?  Sorry, but many of us can say confidently "no".  In fact , Obama's race is the only thing that many of us find appealing about Obama, but we would be wildly remiss as voters to overlook his breath-taking lack of experience and qualification for the position that he feels so entitled to.
